The upgraded ZF Factory Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15400 V2 introduces a series of important improvements to both the movement and exterior finishing. The latest V2 focuses particularly on correcting the case thickness, upgrading the movement shock-protection system, refining the dial texture, improving the hands and reproducing numerous small bracelet and movement details.

One of the most important V2 upgrades is the adoption of an Incabloc-style shock protection system, replacing the previous configuration and bringing the balance assembly visually closer to the architecture of the original Cal. 3120.

V2 Upgrade – Incabloc-Style Shock Protection

One of the key changes to the latest ZF V2 is the upgraded Incabloc-style shock protection system.

This component is located around the balance staff and is designed to protect the delicate balance assembly against impacts. More importantly for a high-level replica, its appearance is also an immediately noticeable detail when inspecting the movement.

ZF has also invested heavily in improving the hands.

The hands are designed to reproduce the shape, three-dimensional profile, polished appearance and luminous characteristics of the original components more accurately than conventional replica hands.

Under direct light, the polished surfaces produce a cleaner reflection, while the carefully shaped edges give the hands more dimensional depth instead of appearing flat.

Another corrected detail is the “Audemars Piguet” signature on the dial.

ZF developed the V2 using original white, blue and black 15400 watches as references, allowing the factory to refine not only the texture but also the respective dial colors.

Improved Date Font

The date display has also received additional attention.

ZF revised the date-wheel typography, focusing on the shape, thickness and positioning of the numerals so that the date presentation better matches the original design.

Because the 15400 has a relatively clean dial, even small differences in the date font can be noticeable under close inspection.

Bracelet End-Link Buffer Detail

The integrated bracelet is one of the defining characteristics of the Royal Oak, and ZF has refined an often-overlooked detail where the bracelet meets the case.

The latest V2 reproduces the buffering and articulation characteristics of the first bracelet links, providing a more natural degree of movement rather than an excessively stiff or loose connection.

This helps the bracelet articulate more naturally around the wrist while maintaining a solid connection to the case.

Refined AP Folding Clasp

ZF has also paid attention to the small AP logo on the folding clasp.

Rather than being completely rigid, the AP emblem is designed with the slight movement associated with the original clasp construction.

It is a very small mechanical detail, but precisely the type of feature that becomes important when reproducing the complete feel of the Royal Oak bracelet.

Upgraded Cal. 3120-Style Automatic Rotor

Through the sapphire exhibition caseback, the movement features an upgraded Cal. 3120-style automatic rotor.

ZF refined the rotor color to avoid the overly reddish tone seen on some earlier replicas. The decorative finish is intended to provide a warmer and more natural appearance.

The AP family crest relief on the rotor has also been refined, with greater definition and smoother finishing to improve the movement's visual presentation through the transparent caseback.

Integrated Super Clone Cal. 3120 Architecture

The movement deserves an important clarification: this ZF V2 does not contain a genuine AP Cal. 3120.

It uses a Miyota 9015-based automatic movement extensively modified into an integrated Cal. 3120-style Super Clone architecture. The purpose of this construction is to reproduce the visual layout and dimensions required by the Royal Oak while retaining a proven automatic movement platform underneath.

This approach is particularly important because it enables ZF to reduce the complete case thickness to approximately 9.8mm while presenting a much more convincing Cal. 3120-style appearance through the sapphire caseback.

White, Blue & Black Dial Versions

ZF developed the 15400 series using original examples of all three major dial colors as references:

White, Blue and Black.

This allows the V2 improvements to extend across the complete collection rather than being optimized for only one dial variation.

Regardless of the selected color, the watches share the upgraded Grande Tapisserie texture, refined applied details, improved date typography and redesigned hands.

Classic 41mm Royal Oak Proportions

The 15400 retains the familiar 41mm Royal Oak case, combining the signature octagonal bezel and eight exposed screws with the integrated steel bracelet.

What makes the V2 particularly important is the corrected 9.8mm thickness. Combined with the sharp brushed surfaces and polished bevels, the slimmer construction gives the watch a noticeably more elegant profile when viewed from the side.

The ZF Factory Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15400 V2 therefore represents more than a cosmetic update. The approximately 9.8mm case thickness, upgraded Incabloc-style shock protection, integrated Cal. 3120-style Super Clone movement, improved hands, deeper Grande Tapisserie dial, corrected date font, refined bracelet articulation and upgraded automatic rotor address many of the small details that distinguish a higher-level 15400 replica from earlier generations.
