DIW Rolex Daytona Blue/Black Kyanite Carbon Edition – Natural Kyanite Dial | Skeleton Chronograph | Super Clone Cal. 4130

The DIW Rolex Daytona Blue/Black Kyanite Carbon Edition is another extraordinary custom creation that combines natural mineral material with carbon fiber and exposed mechanical details. Its most distinctive feature is a dial manufactured from a single piece of natural blue/black kyanite, producing a deep, cosmic appearance that changes dramatically under different lighting conditions.

The latest images reveal the dial in much greater detail: countless tiny blue, silver and golden reflective points are scattered across the dark natural-stone surface, creating an effect similar to a star-filled night sky. Combined with three openworked chronograph registers, a carbon fiber tachymeter bezel and a lightweight textile strap, this is a dramatically different interpretation of the traditional Daytona.

Natural Blue/Black Kyanite Dial

The centerpiece of this DIW creation is the natural blue/black kyanite dial.

Instead of applying a conventional coating or printed pattern, the dial is processed from an entire piece of natural kyanite. Because natural mineral material is inherently more difficult to machine than conventional metal dial blanks, considerable precision is required to reduce the stone to the thin dimensions necessary for a watch dial without damaging it.

The manufacturing yield is therefore relatively low, adding complexity to the production process.

A Natural Starry-Sky Effect

The close-up view highlights one of the most fascinating characteristics of this material.

Across the nearly black surface are countless tiny naturally reflective particles. Under ordinary lighting, the dial can appear predominantly dark blue or black. As the viewing angle changes, however, blue, silver and warm golden points begin to sparkle across the surface.

The visual effect resembles stars scattered throughout a dark night sky.

Because these characteristics originate from the natural mineral itself, the exact pattern and distribution of reflective points can vary from dial to dial. This means individual pieces may display subtle differences in texture and appearance.

Three Skeletonized Chronograph Registers

The three chronograph subdials provide a dramatic mechanical contrast against the natural-stone background.

Rather than using conventional closed registers, DIW adopts an openworked design that exposes portions of the movement and mechanical components beneath the dial.

Silver-tone structures are combined with subtle gold-tone components visible through the openings, creating additional depth within each register.

This combination of natural stone and exposed mechanics gives the watch two very different visual personalities: organic and cosmic across the main dial, yet distinctly technical within the chronograph displays.

Carbon Fiber Tachymeter Bezel

Surrounding the kyanite dial is a carbon fiber tachymeter bezel.

The irregular carbon structure complements the natural variations of the stone while providing a lighter, motorsport-inspired appearance. Bright white tachymeter markings contrast sharply against the dark carbon surface for excellent visibility.

The combination of natural kyanite and carbon fiber is particularly effective because neither material has a completely uniform surface pattern.

Super Clone Cal. 4130 Automatic Chronograph

The watch is powered by a Super Clone Cal. 4130 automatic chronograph movement, engineered specifically around the Daytona-style mechanical layout.

It provides functional hours, minutes, running seconds and mechanical chronograph operation, including the central chronograph seconds hand and corresponding chronograph counters.

Using a purpose-built 4130 Super Clone also allows the movement architecture and chronograph layout to remain much closer to the intended Daytona configuration than generic automatic chronograph alternatives.

Stainless Steel Case with Carbon Details

The stainless steel case provides a clean metallic frame around the much darker dial and carbon bezel.

The latest close-up image also shows the strong contrast between the vertically brushed case surfaces and the dark carbon components. Sharp case lines give the watch a modern technical appearance without distracting attention from the natural-stone dial.

The crown and chronograph pushers retain their polished metallic appearance, providing additional contrast on the right side of the case.

Black Textile Velcro Strap

This configuration is paired with a black woven textile/nylon strap with Velcro-style fastening.

The lightweight textile construction complements the carbon components and gives the watch a more performance-oriented personality than a conventional steel Oyster bracelet.

White contrast stitching provides a subtle detail without competing with the complex colors and textures of the dial.

Every Natural Stone Dial Is Unique

Natural stone cannot be perfectly duplicated from one piece to another.

Small differences in crystalline structure, reflective particles, color distribution and mineral patterns are inherent characteristics of the material. Consequently, two DIW kyanite dials may appear extremely similar but will not necessarily be completely identical.

These variations are part of the appeal of a natural-stone watch rather than imperfections in a printed or painted surface.

Natural Material Meets Mechanical Architecture

The DIW Blue/Black Kyanite Carbon Daytona combines three very different elements within a single design.

The natural kyanite creates the cosmic, star-like dial surface. Carbon fiber provides a modern performance aesthetic around the tachymeter bezel. Finally, the skeletonized subdials expose mechanical structures beneath the dial.

Together with the Super Clone Cal. 4130 automatic chronograph movement, the result is a Daytona customization that looks dramatically different depending on the lighting and viewing angle.

Under softer light, the watch appears predominantly black and understated. Under direct illumination, the blue crystalline points across the natural kyanite begin to sparkle, revealing the distinctive starry-sky effect that defines this DIW creation.
