DIW Rolex Daytona Blue Kyanite Carbon Edition – Natural Blue Kyanite Dial | Super Clone Cal. 4130
The DIW Rolex Daytona Blue Kyanite Carbon Edition is another striking custom interpretation of the Cosmograph Daytona, combining a natural blue kyanite stone dial, carbon fiber tachymeter bezel, skeletonized chronograph registers and a deep-blue textile Velcro strap.
The centerpiece of this edition is unquestionably its dial. Rather than using a conventional painted or lacquered surface, DIW machines the dial from a single piece of natural blue kyanite, giving every watch its own distinctive mineral texture and starry appearance.

Natural Blue Kyanite Dial
The most impressive feature of this DIW Daytona is the natural blue kyanite dial.
Kyanite is a naturally occurring mineral known for its distinctive crystalline structure and excellent resistance to high temperatures. Turning a piece of natural stone into an extremely thin and precisely dimensioned watch dial requires considerably more care than manufacturing a conventional metal dial.
DIW uses a single piece of natural blue kyanite, which must be carefully cut, shaped and finished before it can be installed inside the Daytona case.
Because it is a natural material, the color distribution, crystalline structure and small reflective points can vary slightly from one dial to another. This gives each finished watch an individual appearance.
Starry-Sky Effect Under Different Lighting
The most fascinating characteristic of the blue kyanite surface becomes apparent as the lighting changes.
Numerous tiny natural reflective points appear throughout the deep-blue dial. Depending on the angle and intensity of the light, these points shimmer against the darker background, creating an effect reminiscent of a star-filled night sky or deep space.
Under subdued lighting, the dial appears dark and restrained. Under stronger or directional light, the mineral structure becomes considerably more noticeable and the small crystalline points begin to sparkle.
This constantly changing appearance is difficult to reproduce with a conventional painted dial and is one of the primary reasons for using genuine natural stone.
Difficult Natural-Stone Manufacturing Process
Natural stone is significantly more challenging to work with than conventional brass or other metal dial materials.
The raw kyanite must be reduced to a very thin profile while maintaining sufficient structural integrity for installation. Cutting and finishing errors can damage the material during production, resulting in a relatively low usable yield.
This demanding process contributes to both the production complexity and the distinctive character of the finished dial.
Openworked Chronograph Subdials
Contrasting with the natural stone surface are three openworked chronograph registers.
Rather than completely covering the subdials, the skeletonized design exposes portions of the mechanical structure beneath them. Metallic components and gold-tone details can therefore be seen through the registers.
This creates a particularly interesting contrast: the dial combines the organic appearance of natural blue stone with the technical character of exposed mechanical components.
Carbon Fiber Tachymeter Bezel
The natural-stone dial is surrounded by a carbon fiber tachymeter bezel, continuing DIW's performance-oriented design language.
Its dark carbon pattern complements the blue-black tones of the kyanite while providing a visual transition between the dial and stainless steel case.
White tachymeter markings provide strong contrast against the carbon surface and preserve one of the defining design elements of the Cosmograph Daytona.
Super Clone Cal. 4130 Automatic Chronograph
The watch is powered by a Super Clone Cal. 4130 automatic chronograph movement, engineered around the mechanical architecture and functional layout of the Daytona's 4130 generation.
It provides fully functional hours, minutes, running seconds and mechanical chronograph operation, including the central chronograph seconds hand and corresponding chronograph counters.
Using a purpose-built 4130 Super Clone also allows the movement and dial layout to remain much closer to the intended Daytona configuration than replicas based on generic automatic chronograph movements.
Deep-Blue Textile Velcro Strap
DIW pairs the watch with a deep-blue textile/nylon strap, visually connecting the bracelet area with the natural blue kyanite dial.
The lightweight woven construction gives the watch a more technical and casual character than a traditional Oyster bracelet, while the Velcro-style fastening provides convenient wrist adjustment.
The dark navy color also allows the sparkling blue stone dial to remain the visual centerpiece of the watch.
Natural Material Makes Every Dial Different
An important characteristic of this model is that no two natural kyanite dials will be perfectly identical.
Variations in crystalline patterns, small reflective inclusions, blue coloration and surface structure are inherent characteristics of natural stone rather than manufacturing defects.
As a result, each watch develops a subtly different appearance, especially when viewed under strong directional light.
A Combination of Natural Stone, Carbon and Mechanical Design
The DIW Blue Kyanite Daytona takes a very different approach from a conventional Rolex-inspired chronograph.
The natural blue kyanite dial provides an organic, almost cosmic appearance, while the carbon fiber bezel and openworked chronograph registers introduce a much more technical aesthetic.
Combined with the stainless steel case, dark-blue textile strap and Super Clone Cal. 4130 automatic chronograph movement, the result is a distinctive Daytona customization built around materials and textures rather than simply changing the color of a standard dial.
The DIW Rolex Daytona Blue Kyanite Carbon Edition is particularly striking under changing light. The tiny reflective structures within the natural stone shimmer across the deep-blue surface like stars against a night sky, ensuring that the watch can look noticeably different from one viewing angle to another.
